I chose the field of Physical Therapy the summer before my senior year of high school. I knew I wanted to work in health care, so I volunteered at a local hospital and \u2018floated\u2019 through the different departments. When I observed the therapists working in their gym, I knew I had found my vocation. My grandmother had suffered a stroke; knowing that there was something I could do to directly impact someone\u2019s functional mobility really hit home.<\/p>\n

Whether you are younger or older, physical therapists can help improve mobility for people with injuries or illnesses. They are an important part of the rehabilitation process, especially for patients with chronic conditions. Physical therapy can make you stronger and help you move and feel better.<\/p>\n

During National Physical Therapy Month, we want to tell you why physical therapy is so important.<\/p>\n

Getting to the Source of Pain<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Physical therapists not only treat pain, but they get to its source. By getting to the source, they can provide the appropriate treatments and exercises to ease the pain and help their patients move better. When the physical ailment is gone, or at least less severe, a patient\u2019s emotional state improves as well. Since there is a relationship between physical and mental health, getting to the source \"Staffof the issue is important.<\/p>\n
